Luxury Transportation in Chicago: The Complete 2026 Guide

Luxury transportation in Chicago covers a lot more than a ride to the airport. It moves executives between Loop towers. It gets wedding parties to the church on time. It links O’Hare, Midway, and private jet terminals to every corner of Chicagoland.
Chicago is a big place to get around. In 2025, the city welcomed 56.8 million visitors who spent a record $21.5 billion. O’Hare alone handled about 84.9 million passengers. The region is home to about 30 Fortune 500 headquarters.
This guide covers it all. You will learn what a chauffeured car service does, how the two big airports work, which companies drive business travel, which events fill the calendar, and which suburbs we serve. Every number below is the latest we could confirm as of October 2026.
What Luxury Transportation in Chicago Includes
A chauffeured car service is a pre-booked ride with a trained, professional driver. You know the price, the vehicle, and the pickup time before you go. The driver waits for you, helps with your bags, and knows the city.
Here is what that covers in Chicago:
- Airport transfers. Rides to and from O’Hare and Midway with flight tracking and meet and greet. See our airport limo service.
- Corporate travel. Roadshows, client meetings, and office to airport runs. See our corporate limo service.
- Executive chauffeur service. A dedicated driver for leaders who need privacy and a quiet place to work. See our executive chauffeur service.
- Hourly service. Keep the car and driver for a set block of time. It works well for days with many stops. See our hourly limo service.
- Point to point rides. One clean trip from A to B. See our point to point car service.
- Events and groups. Concerts, games, weddings, proms, and nights out. See our event transportation.
- Private jets. Pickups at FBOs and private terminals. See our private jet and FBO transportation.

O’Hare and Midway: Chicago’s Two Major Airports
Chicago is one of the few U.S. cities with two large commercial airports inside city limits. Together, O’Hare and Midway handled more than 104 million passengers in 2025. That traffic is the backbone of airport car service in the region.
O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
O’Hare sits about 17 miles northwest of the Loop. The airport covers more than 7,200 acres and crosses into both Cook and DuPage counties. It has eight active runways and 199 gates as of April 2026.
The numbers:
- About 84.9 million passengers in 2025.
- 42.8 million passengers in the first half of 2026, up 6.7% from the same months of 2025.
- About 7.7 million international passengers from January to June 2026, up about 9%.
- The busiest TSA day in O’Hare history came on August 4, 2025, with 117,871 people screened. That was the Monday after Lollapalooza.
Who flies there: O’Hare is a hub for two giant airlines. United Airlines, which is based in Chicago, leases 99 gates. American Airlines leases 66. In summer 2026, United planned up to 750 daily flights from O’Hare, the largest schedule any airline has flown there. United serves 222 nonstop destinations from Chicago in 2026, including 47 international cities.
American is growing too. It added new routes in 2026 and plans to return to Tokyo Narita by March 2027. Delta and its SkyTeam partners fly out of Terminal 5. Foreign airlines keep adding routes. EgyptAir launched nonstop Cairo flights in 2026, and Air Canada began flights to downtown Toronto’s Billy Bishop airport on June 1, 2026. Southwest left O’Hare on June 4, 2026, and now runs all of its Chicago flights from Midway.
The terminals:
- Terminal 1: United (Concourses B and C)
- Terminal 2: shared terminal (Concourses E and F), set to be replaced by a new Global Terminal under the O’Hare 21 program
- Terminal 3: American (Concourses G, H, K, and L)
- Terminal 5: international flights, plus Delta and its partner airlines (Concourse M)
Chauffeur tip: International arrivals at Terminal 5 clear U.S. customs before they reach the curb. That can add real time after landing. A good chauffeur tracks your flight and adjusts, so you are not left waiting and you are not paying for a driver who showed up too early. Most rides from O’Hare to downtown use the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94). Rides to the western suburbs often use I-294 and I-88.
Our O’Hare airport limo service page has pickup details and rates.
Midway International Airport (MDW)
Midway sits on the city’s Southwest Side, about 10 miles from the Loop. It opened in 1927 and was Chicago’s main airport before O’Hare. Today it is smaller and quicker to get through, and it is a favorite for travelers from the South Side and the southwest suburbs.
The numbers:
- About 19.4 million passengers in 2025, down about 10% from 2024.
- 7.25 million passengers from January to May 2026, up 2.8% from the same months of 2025.
- 43 gates.
- More than 51,000 private and general aviation flights through Midway’s FBOs in 2025.
Who flies there: Southwest Airlines carries more than 90% of Midway passengers and serves more than 80 destinations from the airport. Delta, Frontier, Allegiant, Volaris, and Avelo also fly there.
Chauffeur tip: Most rides from Midway to downtown use the Stevenson Expressway (I-55). Midway is often the faster choice for Burr Ridge, Orland Park, and Oak Forest. See our Midway airport limo service page, or read our ORD vs MDW airport guide.
Private Jets and FBOs
Chicago is a busy market for private flying. Business jets use FBOs, which are private terminals with their own lounges and ramps. Common pickup points include:
- Signature Aviation at O’Hare
- Signature Aviation and Atlantic Aviation at Midway
- Chicago Executive Airport (PWK) in Wheeling, close to the North Shore
- DuPage Airport (DPA) in West Chicago, close to Naperville and Oak Brook
- Gary/Chicago International Airport (GYY) in northwest Indiana
Where the FBO allows it, a chauffeur can meet you right at the aircraft. See our private jet and FBO transportation page.
Why Chicago Is a Business Hub
Chicago runs one of the largest economies on earth. The region’s gross regional product reached $927 billion in 2024. That puts Chicagoland between the 21st and 22nd largest national economies in the world, ahead of Taiwan, Belgium, and Argentina.
What makes Chicago special is balance. No single industry makes up more than 13% of the region’s economy. Finance, food, health care, manufacturing, logistics, tech, and transportation all carry weight. Chicago also led the nation in corporate relocations and expansions in 2024, and its labor force is about 5 million workers.
O’Hare matters here too. Through September 2025, it was the second largest U.S. port by trade value, handling $293.4 billion in goods.
For a chauffeured car company, all of this means steady demand all year. Bankers, consultants, buyers, engineers, and investors fly in every week.
Fortune 500 Companies Based in Chicago
The Chicago area has about 30 Fortune 500 headquarters on the 2026 list, second only to the New York area. Many of them sit right downtown:
- United Airlines, Chicago’s hometown airline, based in Willis Tower
- Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the food and farm giant, with about $80 billion in yearly revenue
- McDonald’s, at 110 N. Carpenter St. in the West Loop
- Mondelez International, the maker of Oreo and Ritz
- Kraft Heinz, which shares its headquarters between Chicago and Pittsburgh
- Exelon, a major U.S. power utility
- JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle), the commercial real estate firm
- GE HealthCare, the medical technology company
- Northern Trust, the wealth management bank
- Molson Coors, Motorola Solutions, Conagra Brands, and Old Republic International
Chicago is also home to CME Group, one of the world’s largest futures exchanges, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
The Suburban Corporate Corridors
Some of the biggest companies in the region are not downtown at all. That is why corporate car service here is often a suburb to airport job.
| Area | Companies headquartered there |
|---|---|
| North Shore and Lake County | Walgreens and Baxter (Deerfield), Allstate (Northbrook), AbbVie (North Chicago), Abbott (Abbott Park), Grainger and Packaging Corporation of America (Lake Forest), Illinois Tool Works (Glenview), CDW (Vernon Hills) |
| Western suburbs | Dover (Downers Grove), Ace Hardware (Oak Brook) |
| O’Hare area | US Foods (Rosemont) |
Walgreens is the largest of these by revenue, at $147.7 billion on the 2026 Fortune 500 list.
Chicago has also lost some big names. Boeing moved its headquarters to Arlington, Virginia, in 2022. Caterpillar moved from Deerfield to Irving, Texas, and Citadel moved to Miami. Even so, those companies kept large operations in the area. On the other side of the ledger, Google is renovating the Thompson Center in the Loop for its Chicago staff, with a move-in target of 2027.
What Business Travelers Book
- Airport pickups timed to the flight, with a name sign at baggage claim
- Hourly cars for days full of meetings in the Loop, River North, and Fulton Market
- Roadshows that hit downtown and suburban offices in one day
- Group shuttles for offsites, client dinners, and golf outings
- Discreet black car service for executives who need to take calls in private

McCormick Place and the Convention Calendar
McCormick Place on the Near South Side is the largest convention center in North America. When a big show is in town, hotels fill up and rides get hard to find. Booking a car ahead of time is the simple fix.
Major shows on the 2026 calendar:
| Show | 2026 dates | Who attends |
|---|---|---|
| Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) | July 13 to 15 | Food scientists and food brands |
| GBTA Convention | August 3 to 5 | Corporate travel managers |
| IMTS, the International Manufacturing Technology Show | September 14 to 19 | Manufacturers; the largest trade show in the Western Hemisphere |
| Chicago Marathon Health and Fitness Expo | October 8 to 10 | Marathon runners and their families |
| PACK EXPO International | October 18 to 21 | Packaging and processing companies |
| RSNA Annual Meeting | November 29 to December 3 | Radiologists and medical imaging companies |
The National Restaurant Association Show returns to McCormick Place on May 22 to 25, 2027. Near O’Hare, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont hosts many more shows, and the Schaumburg Convention Center serves the northwest suburbs.
Chicago Tourism by the Numbers
Chicago keeps setting tourism records. Here is what Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism office, reported for 2025:
- 56.8 million visitors
- $21.5 billion in visitor spending, an all-time high
- 135,360 local jobs supported
- 40.7 million domestic leisure visitors, up 4.8%
- $2.9 billion in hotel revenue
Readers of Conde Nast Traveler also named Chicago the best big city in the U.S. in 2025, for the ninth year in a row. More visitors means more airport runs, more hotel pickups, and more nights out.
Chicago Events That Call for a Chauffeur
Chicago has something big on the calendar almost every weekend. Big events mean street closures, packed parking, and long rideshare waits. A booked car with a driver who knows the routes takes that stress away.
Bank of America Chicago Marathon
The 48th Chicago Marathon runs on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Organizers expect a field of about 55,000 runners from more than 100 countries. More than 200,000 people applied for a spot. The course starts and ends in Grant Park and passes through 29 neighborhoods.
Streets close early and stay closed for hours. Plan a pickup spot a few blocks outside the course, and book your ride home before race day. Our chauffeurs plan routes around the closures.
Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza fills Grant Park for four days every summer. The 2026 festival ran from July 30 to August 2. You can see the crowd at the airport too: the day after Lollapalooza 2025 ended was O’Hare’s busiest TSA day ever. For groups, a Sprinter van or party bus lets friends ride together and skip the scramble for a ride at closing time. See our concert transportation page.
NASCAR in Chicagoland
The NASCAR Cup Series came back to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet on July 5, 2026. It was the first Cup race at the track since 2019. The downtown Chicago Street Race took 2026 off, and NASCAR has said it hopes to return to city streets in 2027.
Pro Sports
Chicago has teams in every major league:
- Cubs at Wrigley Field in Lakeview
- White Sox at Rate Field in Bridgeport
- Bulls and Blackhawks at the United Center on the Near West Side
- Bears at Soldier Field. In June 2026, the team’s board voted to move forward with a new stadium project in Hammond, Indiana.
- Fire at Soldier Field
- Sky at Wintrust Arena
Game day traffic around Wrigley Field and Soldier Field is heavy. A driver who knows the drop-off spots saves you time on both ends. See our sporting event transportation page.
Concerts and Nights Out
Big tours play Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, the United Center, and Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Summer brings outdoor shows at the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park and at Ravinia in Highland Park. A car can take you from dinner in River North or the West Loop to the show and home again, with no parking to deal with.
Weddings, Proms, and Galas
Chicago weddings range from downtown hotels and museums to country clubs in Hinsdale and Lake Forest. A stretch limo carries the couple, and a Sprinter van moves the wedding party and guests. Spring brings prom season for suburban high schools. See our wedding limo service, our prom limo service, and our Chicago wedding transportation guide.
Seasonal Favorites
- Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place in February
- Taste of Chicago
- Chicago Air and Water Show along the lakefront in August
- Magnificent Mile Lights Festival in November
- Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza during the holidays
Car Service Across Chicago’s Top Suburbs
Many of our riders live or work outside the city. Chicagoland’s suburbs hold some of the highest incomes in the country, plus major corporate offices. Here is a look at the areas we cover most.
Western Suburbs: Naperville, Hinsdale, and Oak Brook
Naperville is one of the best-known suburbs in America. With about 149,000 residents, it is the fourth largest city in Illinois. Its median household income is about $151,000, based on 2023 Census estimates. Niche named Naperville the best city to live in America in 2024 and again in 2025. It sits on the I-88 corridor, so DuPage Airport, the Oak Brook offices, and O’Hare are all an easy drive.
Hinsdale is one of the wealthiest suburbs in the country. A 2026 MoneyLion study ranked it No. 11 in the U.S., with an average household income of $367,874 in 2024 and an average home value of about $1.33 million. Hinsdale riders book airport runs, downtown dinners, and wedding cars. See our Hinsdale limo service page.
Oak Brook is a business and shopping center. It is home to Oakbrook Center and Ace Hardware’s headquarters, and it sits where I-88 meets I-294. See our Oak Brook limo service page.
We also serve nearby Burr Ridge, Downers Grove, Lisle, and Darien. Downers Grove is home to Dover, a Fortune 500 manufacturer.
North Shore: Winnetka, Kenilworth, Lake Forest, and Highland Park
The North Shore along Lake Michigan has some of the highest incomes in the U.S. Census data from 2023 shows mean household incomes above $450,000 in both Kenilworth and Winnetka. Lake Forest and Wilmette both made MoneyLion’s 2026 list of the 50 wealthiest U.S. suburbs, each with average household incomes above $300,000.
This area is a corporate center too. Walgreens and Baxter are in Deerfield, Allstate is in Northbrook, Grainger is in Lake Forest, and Abbott and AbbVie sit further north. The Bears train at Halas Hall in Lake Forest. In summer, Ravinia in Highland Park draws big concert crowds. Private flyers often use Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling.
Northwest Suburbs: Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Barrington, and Rosemont
Schaumburg is home to Woodfield Mall, the Schaumburg Convention Center, and Zurich North America’s U.S. headquarters. Arlington Heights ranked No. 1 on U.S. News and World Report’s 2025-2026 list of the best places to live in Illinois. Barrington Hills and South Barrington are known for large estates and horse country. Rosemont sits right next to O’Hare, with the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Allstate Arena, and the US Foods headquarters.
South and Southwest Suburbs: Orland Park, Oak Forest, Tinley Park, and Joliet
Orland Park and Oak Forest are closer to Midway than O’Hare, so Midway is often the quicker airport. Tinley Park hosts summer concerts at the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre. Joliet welcomed NASCAR back to Chicagoland Speedway in 2026.
